{ I finally had enough motivation to write a thing! *throws confetti* Yay! }
——-
Out of all the racers who could’ve bothered her today, it just had to be him.
Vanellope enjoyed the silence of being alone in the candy cane forest, leaning on a tree as she got consumed in her thoughts. That was until she heard footsteps, however. The ravenette turned her head around, and sure enough, it was him. Rancis Fluggerbutter, staring right back at her with an unreadable expression on his features.
“…Fluggerbutter.” Her tone was monotone and flat.
“Glitch.” He simply chided, moving closer to the girl, making her shift uncomfortably in response.
"Whaddya want from me this time, Fluggerface. ’M not botherin’ you ‘r yer dumb friends as you can see at the time.“ She shifted her gaze at the gumdrop at the right of her, obviously avoiding any eye contact with the boy. He didn’t say anything at first, he just moved closer. It made her increasingly uncomfortable.
"Why do ya always assume I’m coming after you? I have better things to do–”
“And yet here ya are. I doubt ya have anythin’ better to do other than stare at yourself all day, anyways.”
Out of the corner of her eye, she could see him smirking. Ugh. She’d very much like to slap that smirk off of his face. His frustratingly adorable face.
“Feeling bold today, aren’t we?”
“…..”
He stepped close enough to where he was only a foot away from her now, leaning over and placing a hand on the candy tree she was leaning on, the other stuffed in his pocket. Just what was this peanut-butter racer’s game? Vanellope finally looked into his eyes, disgust written all over her features. How dare he even get this close? He never has before.
“What if I said I like bold, feisty girls such as yourself?”
Vanellope froze, blinking once, twice. What? She felt heat rush to her cheeks and she shifted uncomfortably again. “I’d say yer an idiot.” The girl finally spoke, glaring at the boy with a forced scowl, though she was really just confused.
He suddenly took his hand out his pocket and used it to caress her chin, and she only grew more flustered. Oh how she wanted to punch him right now, right in that pretty little mouth of his, but she stayed stuck in her position. Rancis chuckled softly and leaned in slowly. “Oh Vanellope…of course you would. It’s so…you, isn’t it?” He was so close, she felt her pixelized heart booming in her chest and hands tremble. She’s never seen his features so up close before, and…he was gorgeous. She could even count the freckles on his cheeks. The blonde finally spoke up again. “Well…I like it.”
And that was when she felt soft lips pressing against her own. Oh. She blinked and and jumped slightly, a little startled by the gesture. But, to her surprise, she felt herself relaxing into the kiss, cheeks flushed brightly. What was she doing? She should be shoving him away now, calling him disgusting or gross or something in the range, but she wasn’t. She was kissing him back, eyes slid close, arms raising up to snake them around his neck, pulling him closer.
His lips were so soft, so warm, and it was driving her mad.
When he finally broke the kiss, Vanellope blinked the haze away from her eyes and looked up at him, biting her lip as she tasted hints of peanutbutter and chocolate lingering in her taste buds, making her head spin.
He returned her gaze with a wide smirk playing across his handsome features. Ugh, what a jerk. Here she was thinking he would give her a typical shove or mean comment when he moved closer, only to take her by surprise when he had the nerve to kiss her. And the worst and most unexpected– she kissed back. It didn’t make sense, and it happened all to fast. She was supposed to hate him, just like she did all the others, and she did, didn’t she?
Rancis finally pulled away, stuffing his hands inside of his blazer pockets, that dumb, smug look she hated still plastered on his face. The boy began to move and walk past the tree she still leaned against, but not before whispering, “Until next time, Von Schweetz.” He winked and nudged her arm, making her blush once again and shift away from him.
“Wh-whatever, ya jerk….”
Rancis let out a small laugh and sent her a mischievous look that sent shivers down her spine, finally walking away, leaving her alone once again. She didn’t move until she heard his footsteps fade away, and finally when she was sure he was gone, she slid down and covered her beet-red face in her palms.
“Oh Gumdrops….”
